The United World Tribes Flag represents the collective identity of the Gathering of the Whare Ariki [Paramount Chieftainship Houses] and serves as the unifying flag of Te Kōtahitanga [The Unity / The Unification].

During United World Tribes gatherings, the flag is raised at the centre, with the flags of each participating Whare Ariki flown either side of it.

This arrangement symbolises Te Kōtahitanga — the unity, mutual respect, cooperation, and shared purpose of participating Whare Ariki — while recognising that each Whare Ariki retains its own identity, traditions, and responsibilities.

Together, the flags represent the strength found in unity, the enduring relationships between Whare Ariki, and their shared commitment to the wellbeing of Aotearoa [New Zealand], Te Moana Nui a Kiwa [The Great Ocean of Kiwa / The Pacific], Te Ao Mārama [The World of Light / The Physical World], and Ngā Rangitūhāhā [The Dimensions / The Heavens].
